The BCV employs Christian, mission-minded, husband and wife teams to serve in the position of Houseparents. Couples must be mature Christian adults with personal integrity, character and of good reputation, with standards and ethics expected of any member of The Baptist Children's Village staff.

The primary job responsibility of Houseparents is to maintain a home-like environment that models healthy, Christian family living for children and youth residents. They are the primary caregiver and help with everything from transportation and homework to laundry and meals when on duty. Also, when on duty they attend a local Southern Baptist church with the residents and will be expected to support the children in church activities.

Houseparent responsibilities are varied and somewhat dependent upon which campus and to which cottage the couple is assigned. The Baptist Children's Village serves children that are privately placed and those referred by the Mississippi Child Protective Services. Each cottage has either all girls or all boys and a maximum capacity for 8-10 residents.  Residents range in age from 1 to 20 years of age.  

Houseparents must be in good physical, mental and emotional health to best serve the needs of the children in their care. They must be cooperative and comfortable working in a team environment.
