If so, we have an amazing opportunity for you to make a difference! Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries is seeking Christ-centered individuals or married couples to serve as Houseparents. In this role, you will work a flexible schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off, residing in the cottage full-time while on shift. As a Houseparent, your primary responsibility will be to provide the overall safety, care, and nurturing of the children while maintaining cottage routines to include: meal preparation, transportation to and from school and appointments, daily chores, extracurricular activities, schoolwork, personal hygiene and life skills, appropriate guidance and discipline, and Bible devotions.
Houseparents work on our beautiful 470-acre campus with access to Maxwell Farms and Connie Maxwell Baptist Church. Maxwell Farms offers respite for our children and families through a wide variety of activities like nature trails, a petting zoo, fishing, a ropes course, and horseback riding. Connie Maxwell Baptist Church holds a rich history of offering foundational hope and healing by ministering the Word of God. We are situated in Uptown Greenwood, 20 minutes from Lake Greenwood, 2 hours from the mountains and 3 hours from the beach.
It’s often said that it takes a village to raise a child. With that in mind, our Houseparents work collaboratively with additional support through our on-campus Family Service Workers, Team Leaders, a Director of Education, a Campus Nurse, a Director of Recreation, and an On-Campus Ministerial Staff.
Requirements for the position include a High School Diploma or equivalent, experience working with children or in a childcare field, strong interpersonal and communication skills, a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass extensive background screenings.
